The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While the grownups were letting Haley peek in their heads.
While ma in her kerchief, and I in my cap
Had just settled down to watch Rifle bust a cap.
When from the computer there arose such a clatter.
Jean-Luc had just blasted someone into antimatter!
Away from that midget, I ran like a flash.
Before I would be the next one turned to ash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Looked rather like the warm monitor glow.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a scary pale vampire sucking on a pickle spear.
And a little ol' bunny girl, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment this comic was slick!
Seven cartoonists, together they came.
They drew up odd characters, and called them by name.
Now, Rifle! Now Toniku! now, Aika and Vamp!
On, Jean-Luc! on Best Friend! on Haley and 'stav!
To this strange little comic, created by all!
Now draw him here, draw her there, we're having a ball!
As people that hit themselves with a pie,
The ideas were crazy, would they ever fly?
The artists didn't know, but the drawings still flew,
With a sleigh full of punchlines, and these characters too.
And then in a twinkling, I saw on the screen
A big smiley face who looked like a bean.
As I blinked once or twice, and near turned around,
A girl with green hair showed up with a bound.
She was dressed all cute-like, from her head to her foot.
But unlike Santa Claus, not covered with soot.
A long green braid she had flung on her back.
And from the look on her face, she had attitude, Jack!
These chars -- How peculiar! The comic, how merry!
Panel one, part amusing, and panel four, very!
I felt that this comic would only improve.
Seven talented artists were SO on the move!
One character left, I looked around, stumped.
And then I looked down, and I nearly jumped!
An orange dessert had just gone and said "Hello,"
And wiggled in laughter-- He's a bowlful of Jello!
I was in awe of this comic, right off the shelf.
And I laughed when I saw it, in spite of myself.
A humor-filled groan and a shake of my head,
And I knew that now I had nothing to dread.
I spoke not a word, but went straight to my work,
And made it a bookmark; a new daily perk.
And laying a finger aside of my nose,
I wished that this strip's popularity rose.
I leaned back in my chair and surveyed the page.
Hoping to hope it would last to old age.
But Aika of course, got the last word, the wailer--
"Happy Christmas to all! Now I'm going to my trailer!"
